Hurricane Irma

Wow what a week we had last week.  We were glued to the weather channel to see where Hurricane Irma was going  to reach land.  It looked like it was headed for the east coast of Florida and we live in Vero Beach on the east coast.  My friend June and her husband Ed invited us to go with them to her son's house in Lakeland on the west coast.  We left home at 4:30 am Friday morning and it took us 4 hours to get to Lakeland which typically takes 2 hours.  So many people were evacuating from our side of the state.   After we arrived and got everything settled June and I decided to go shopping (really we weren't in a storm now right?)

Then out to dinner with our husbands to Harry's (yummy food)  I forgot what this was called except GOOD.

Ed woke us up early the next day to tell us we had to pack up and leave, the storm had changed directions to the west coast (where we were). We got on the road and did not see hardly any traffic.  We did see these National Guard Units gassing up to get on the road to be ready to help where ever needed.

We got home on Saturday morning and kept an eye out on the news until the storm started and we lost power.  I read a whole book "Twelve Days of Christmas" by Debbie Macomber, who happens to be one of my favorite authors.  We were using the lantern and some flashlights to read by.  I decided I wanted to stamp since I had lantern light I could do that.  A girl has to do what a girl has to do, RIGHT?!?  My husband took my picture and put it on facebook I love his caption:

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night" can keep Frances from working on her Stampin' Up! projects during Hurricane Irma. Here she is working by the light of a Coleman lantern during our power outage. I couldn't help but admire her work ethic while Irma raged outside. LOL

Below is the project I was working on.  I had given my team a challenge to sell $1000 in August and I will send them a gift.  We are always using pearls on our projects and I thought instead of just sending them the package of pearls I would make a cute topper for it and would have it ready when the hurricane  was over.

I used the new Painted Harvest stamp set. It is one of my favorite fall sets.  Item #144783
check it out on my website here!

Thank goodness the storm was over on Monday plus our power is back on, when so many people were without power plus we did not have a lot of damage and felt so blessed.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Evi

I have a customer that lives in an assisted living home. Evi lives in the part where she has her own apartment so she can do just as much in life as I can. She is adorable. We meet each month in her conference or craft room in the main building to stamp together.  I met Evi at a vendor fair at the home and we just clicked.  We talked about classes and she wanted to sign up right away for my classes.  Sometimes others come, sometimes they don't, so since she is my main participant we collaborate on what projects we do together. She loves to have her friends over for lunches and we do a lot of treat holders and cards. Lately we have been making projects to frame. This were this months projects.  She really liked the HELLO Eclipse framed piece.

This was her August project- Don't you love the way she decorates the outside of her door.  I really enjoy working with Evi. I get as much pleasure teaching Evi as she does taking the class.  It is a special time for me each month.

Here are some other posts about Evi. HERE

Thanks for stopping by and I will continue to share Evi's projects with you each month.  If you want to attend one of my classes if you live in the Vero Beach area just email me and we can arrange it.

I am excited to join this Anything but the Holidays Blog Hop.  When I first read about it I knew I wanted to use the Beachy Little Christmas set (being from Florida it was a win, win for me). I have already been making samples for swaps and working on my own Christmas cards early.

Beachy Little Christmas Clear-Mount Stamp Set  #144857  $20.00
Beachy Little Christmas Wood-Mount Stamp Set  #144854  $28.00

Here are my NON Christmas samples:

I love that Stampin' UP! brought back the 3x3 Envelopes which fit perfectly in the NEW pizza boxes.

These are the 3x3 cards with envelopes that will fit several in the box.  There so many possibilities for hostess gifts, teacher gifts, Sunday School Friends and so much more.   I couldn't resist covering the flap on the 3x3 envelope.

Using the same Beachy Little Christmas stamp set I made this adorable single sided note card.  I love single sided note cards and have made them several times in the past.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to click on the next blog to see what everyone else came up with.

August NC- Demo Blog Hop

Welcome to my post for this month's NC Demos Blog Hop! I hope you are enjoying this month's projects and getting lots ideas for your own back to school stamping and crafting and a little more!

This month I had a dilemma  of what to share with you using our back to school theme. My children are grown and all of my current local customers don't have school aged children at home either.  I have not been working on school related projects so I looked in my archives and found these sweet 3x3 notes to make and put in your children's lunch box or in their back pack or your husband's briefcase!  :)

I hope you like them and can use the idea for your family!

Be sure to check out the rest of the blog hop!

Happy 18th Anniversary To Me

I can't believe I have been a Stampin' UP! demonstrator for 18 years.  August 31st. Wow where did the time go.  I started out wanting the discount and then one day on a door prize slip one of my customers wrote I want to do what you do. From there I began this wonderful journey that I would not trade for anything.  I started looking for some photos of the beginning years before we had cell phones that we took pictures every day  (but didnt find any :)  So I thought I would just share a few of myself and some of my team members and customers along the way. This first picture was taken at the home office in Summer, 2009 at the home office tour when I went to convention in Salt Lake City.  What an adventure.

My story! In 1999 we lived in Kinston NC at the time and I was looking in a Country Sampler magazine and saw some really cute Halloween (not SU) cards. It was in an ad from Raindrops on Roses Stamp store in Raleigh.  I called them to see where there were located in relationship to the airport since I had to take my husband, Rich to the airport the next week. I dropped Rich off and went to the stamp store and loved everything.  I saw a cute card on the wall from her stamp club swaps  made with SU enamel embossing powder and it was a  watering can with flowers in it. (Funny how a card can change your life.)

I told the lady I wanted to buy that stamp and she rolled her eyes and said we don't sell it and I said can you order it for me and she said no that is from Stampin UP and I said what is that? She rolled her eyes again and said it is a home party type stamp company.  I was so excited I was thinking like Tupperware? I could identify with that. I had never heard of them and asked her how I could find them, she said you can buy a magazine near the counter and the info will be in the back of it. I can't remember the stamping magazine maybe Stamp It or Somerset or something like that. Anyway, I looked in the back of the magazine and copied down the information and went home and called them.

They referred me to a demo in Greenville, NC about 25 miles from where I was living. I called her and we set up a party and she came and did a demonstration and I mean that is all she did. I thought to myself if I ever did this they would be stamping. I didn't sign up that day and got only a few orders for my party.

Later that month I went to a stamping convention where there were all types of stamping and scrap booking vendors where I saw a SU vendor and keep going back to their booth. They were demoing stuff and I picked up a catalog and asked could I take it home and send her an order and she probably thought she would never see me again. I went home and placed that order and decided I wanted to be a demonstrator because I loved stamping after seeing several demonstrations and going to a stamp camp. The kit cost $250 and I had been saving my money and finally had enough to buy the kit. Back then you had to send your recruiting papers in the mail so not as fast as today on line.

I got my kit in September but my sign up date is 8/31/99, in November we moved from Kinston, NC to Victorville, CA and since have moved 6 times since then and I have customers from coast to coast and team members in several states.

My first recruit wrote on her door prize slip that she wanted to do what I do. I was so new I told her I would get back to her and as soon as everyone left my open house I called SU and asked for help with recruiting. It was fun we learned together.
When I first started we only did all of our business through home parties, not clubs or classes or camps which have evolved over the years to all the above and online events and purchases etc.

I worked full time for 14 years and had my Stampin’ UP! Business too.  Four years ago, I retired and we moved to Florida and so Stampin’ UP! is my full-time business or as much as I want it to be.  God has blessed me with this little business and the friendships along the way. I have met so many people and made some unbelievable friends that would have never been in my life from customers that become friends to other demonstrators that I met at leadership conferences and conventions. Thank you for being a part of my story and my journey – PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

This is part of my team at a meeting in Greensboro a few years back I think 2011.

This was my stamp club when I lived in Raleigh,  NC.  Which reminds me I need to take a group photo of my stamp club her in Vero Beach when we start back in December.

This is my Stampin' Bunco club that meets all year round from 2015 we always enjoy playing bunco sharing a meal together.

This is part of my team that went to Savannah On Stage Stampin' Up! conference this past April.  It was exciting to share it with my team most had never been.

Join my team and you can travel with us and enjoy the benefits of having a discount every day for your own Stampin' UP! supplies as well as make a little money or make it a great career when you collect orders from your stamping buddies while sharing what you love while being creative.
